Why we don't start with insoles
Fitting an insole to a foot that's locked by tension rarely works on its own, because the foot can't move freely enough to use it. If a stiff ankle or tension higher up is making your foot compensate, an orthotic alone won't fix it.
So we restore movement first with gentle mobilisation and fascial work. Once your foot is moving well, an orthotic can help with the timing of your foot as you walk, control excessive rolling in and let joints like the big toe work as they should.
When orthotics help
- Plantar fasciitis and heel pain, once the cause of strain has been addressed.
- Big toe stiffness and ball of foot pain.
- Flat feet or overpronation that is driving symptoms.
- Some knee, hip and back problems linked to foot function.
- Recurring running injuries.
What to expect
- An assessment to decide whether orthotics are right for you.
- Custom devices designed for your feet, replacing over-the-counter insoles.
- Advice on footwear that suits them.
- A review to check how you are getting on.
